In most ways, buying property in Spain is similar to the UK or Ireland. There are, however, some fundamental differences. We strongly recommend that you employ the services of a local solicitor who is experienced in dealing with the purchase of property.

We will also ensure that you have a detailed picture of your total financial outlay. In addition to the price agreed with builders and developers, you will need to add government taxes, legal and notary fees, mortgage set-up fees and utility connection charges. Depending on the data available at the time, our consultants will provide as accurate an estimate as possible of what your total costs will be by the time you move in. As an approximate guide, we normally estimate the final cost by adding 10% to the builder's listed price.
You should also take into account the fluctuations in exchange rates, which may also affect the total cost. Our consultants will advise you on the various ways to protect yourself against such fluctuations.
